Early voting for the 2022 general election begins Friday, Sept. 23, in Minnesota. Voters can cast their ballots in person at early voting locations across the state or by mail.

Who can vote early?

Any registered voter in Minnesota can vote early. You do not need to provide a reason.

Where can I vote early?

You can find a list of early voting locations on the Minnesota Secretary of State's website. Early voting locations will be open during the following times:

  • Monday-Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

What do I need to bring with me?

When you vote early, you will need to bring a valid photo ID. Acceptable forms of ID include:

  • Minnesota driver's license or ID card
  • U.S. passport
  • Military ID
  • Student ID from a Minnesota college or university
  • Tribal ID card

How can I vote by mail?

You can request a mail-in ballot by completing an absentee ballot application. You can find an application on the Minnesota Secretary of State's website. Applications must be received by your local election office by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

What is the deadline to vote?

The deadline to vote early in person is Monday, Nov. 7. The deadline to return your mail-in ballot is Election Day, Nov. 8.
